Rosefinch Mercantile and Tea Room is a charming and community-driven cafe, gift shop, grocery store, and post office. We are located in beautiful Port Medway, a quirky artistic village on the South Shore.

We are hiring a barista / clerk to work from approximately June 21st to August 31st. Funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program, applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 30. 

This role is perfect for someone outgoing and creative who would like to help us create a lively atmosphere. This position will be an integral part of our daily operations and special events. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer service: Foster a friendly and welcoming environment for both locals and visitors.

  • Beverage preparation: Craft a variety of tea and coffee drinks using a commercial espresso machine.

  • Sales transactions: Tell customers about products, and manage orders and purchases using our Square Point of Sale system.

  • Postal duties: Assist with the handling and distribution of parcels.

  • Store upkeep: Maintain a tidy and inviting space.

  • Vendor liaison: Act as the primary contact for participants in our Sunday vendor's market, coordinating and supporting their needs.

  • Team collaboration: Share tasks and support your coworkers to ensure smooth operations from open to close.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Beverage preparation: Experience with (or willingness to learn) using a commercial espresso machine.
  • Collaboration: Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Adaptability: Practical problem-solving and multitasking abilities.

Experience:

Experience in a cafe, retail, or customer service setting is valued but not required. We are happy to provide training for those who are a great fit. 

What We Offer:

  • $17 per hour (plus tips) for a 35-hour week, Wednesday to Sunday
